Fukuoka Castle Ruins

Conveniently located in the center of the city, Fukuoka Castle was built in 1607 by the feudal lord Nagamasa Kuroda, and was once the largest in the Kyushu region. The castle ruins are designated as a national historic site, and several structures including Tamon-yagura (turret), Kinen-yagura and the main gate still survive today.
