The highest level of learning institution of its time, Nisshinkan was established in 1803 by the Aizu Domain. Children of samurai families entered this school at age ten and mastered academic studies, martial arts, and more. Visitors can enjoy practicing some essential disciplines of the samurai, including Japanese archery and meditation.
