As one of Japan's Top 100 Castles and a designated National Special Historic Site, Nagoya Castle was constructed by shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa in the beginning of the 17th century as the last stepping stone towards unifying the nation. The restored Hommaru Palace was revealed in June 2018.
The castle tower is currently closed due to its wooden restoration project.
